Supernatural...

"I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead and seated him at the place of honor at God's right hand in the heavenly realms. Now He is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else-not only in this world but in the world to come (Ephesians 1: 19-21, NLT)."

The Bible is full of examples of the incredible power of God to create, bring destruction, heal, bring demons under control, loose the power of heaven, raise the dead and do any kind of miracles. The scripture says that the power that raised Jesus from the dead gives Christ the power to do anything. God's power is without boundaries or limits.

The problem is that many in the church have tried to explain or restrict God's power. We see it in the Creation vs. Evolution. God has the power to create, but to some is not the grand designer behind creation. We see it in pastoral counseling. Anyone who has any credits in Clinical Pastoral Education knows that rather than seeking spiritual answers for those who suffer, we instead seek behavioral and psychological answers. When it comes to doing theology, we preach justice, fairness and inclusivity, but look to human institutions for remedy.

God is all powerful. God can do anything. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead can give new life to our mortal bodies as well. If we have a God who offers us this power to heal, change and fulfill our lives, then why do we turn to the culture and the world for solutions? When we get sick we go to the doctor because we believe in God's power to work through doctors and medecines. But God is all powerful and can also bring miraculous healing that goes above and beyond science and medicine. Why is it that when someone is spiritually tormented we look to psychology and psychiatry for the only answers? Scripture makes it clear that God has the power to cast out demons. Do we pray for such deliverance?

It seems to me that there is a willingness for us to surrender God's power to the things of the world. We have become too confident in our own ability to fix lives that we aren't looking to God for His solutions. We sometimes forget that all things come from Him and that we should give him the glory when we experience healing and renewal in our lives.

A lot of Christians have become too practical. We always look to the world when we should be looking to God. We miss an entire dimension of what it means to have faith in the process.

We shouldn't forget that God is supernatural.
